The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) has fined Football Kenya Federation (FKF) USD 50,000 for failure to meet CAF safety and security requirements in the ongoing CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) competitions, cohosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
In a press statement dated, 13th August 2025, CAF Disciplinary Board accused the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) with multiple safety and security breaches during the CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) match between Kenya and Morocco at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
In this regard, CAF Disciplinary Board found Kenya guilty and imposed a fine of USD 50,000 following deliberations on various security breaches relating to the ongoing CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN).
Kenya has been warned that continued failure to meet CAF safety and security requirements may lead to the relocation of Kenya’s National Team matches to an alternative venue.
Kenya was advised to heighten security surveillance and other requisite measures by deploying sufficient personnel within the perimeter of the stadium as well as adhering to the road closures on match days.
The Disciplinary Board also charged the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football (FRMF) with the inappropriate conduct of its players during Morocco’s TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship match against Kenya.
Morocco was found guilty and imposed a fine of USD 5,000, of which USD 2,500 is suspended on condition that no similar offence is committed during the remainder of CHAN matches.
Also, the Board charged the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) with breaching CAF’s Media Regulations during the Match Day-1 Press Conference ahead of their CAF African Nations Championship (“CHAN”) match against Democratic Republic of Congo.
Zambia failed to present the head coach at the mandatory Press Conference. The Disciplinary Board found Zambia guilty and imposed a fine of USD 5,000.
The fines are to be paid within 60 days of notification of the CAF decision.
