Avocado farmers in Chania Ward have turned recent training in the sector into practical results through hands-on avocado harvest and post-harvest achievements.
The training brought together 45 farmers; 34 men, six women and three youth a reflection of a strong cross-generational commitment to improving avocado production and household incomes.
Participants took part in practical sessions covering structured market linkages, safe use of biological products, and Integrated Pest Management (IPM) targeting persea mites, False Codling Moth (FCM) and fruit fly. They were also trained on canopy management practices aimed at boosting yields and enhancing fruit quality for export markets.
The initiative was implemented in collaboration with the CADO Office, Farm Track Biologicals, Soko Fresh, and Osho Chemicals, reinforcing a public–private partnership model that links production support with market access.
