Kiambu Town MP boosts local school infrastructure

Kiambu Town MP Machua Waithaka has reaffirmed his commitment to transforming public schools by improving infrastructure and ensuring a safe, conducive learning environment for children.

Under the initiative branded “Yangu Ni Kazi Tu,” Machua has overseen renovations that include tiling classrooms and fencing school compounds.

Ten public schools have so far benefitted from the fencing project, among them Tiara Primary and ACK-KIU River Comprehensive School.

The upgrades are aimed at creating secure and inspiring spaces for learners and teachers while also uplifting the image of public institutions to match standards seen in private schools.

At Riara primary school, teachers expressed their gratitude, noting that the schools now look more appealing and safer. “We are happy because the environment has become better. Unlike before, when we used to step on stones while teaching, the classrooms are now tiled and the compounds fenced,” said Loise Nganga, the school head teacher.

The fencing of schools is expected to enhance security, reduce trespassing, and provide learners with a sense of safety. The tiling of classrooms, on the other hand, improves hygiene and creates a more comfortable environment for both teaching and learning.

Waithaka pledged to continue prioritizing education infrastructure, noting that quality learning spaces are essential for nurturing talent and inspiring academic excellence.

The initiative underscores the constituency’s broader vision of empowering communities through education and ensuring that every child has access to facilities that support their growth and success.
