Kipchimchim Group FC has set its ambitions on promotion to the National Super League (NSL) as the team prepares for the new season, following a fourth-place finish in the previous campaign.
The club has stepped up its preparations under newly appointed coach Patrick Amuoka, with the technical bench and players expressing confidence that a new approach to training can help the team improve its performance and compete for promotion.
Team captain Dominic Kipng’eno said the players were eager for the new season and were focused on finishing at the top of the league. He credited the coaching and management teams for their commitment to the club, saying their support had contributed to the progress made during the previous season.
“We are focused on being at the top and on going to NSL,” Kipng’eno said, adding that the team was grateful for the guidance provided by the coaching staff throughout their training sessions.
Kipng’eno, however, identified changes in training grounds as one of the challenges facing the team. He said players who travel from distant areas sometimes find it difficult to arrive at training sessions on time because of the changes in venues.
Amuoka, who recently took over as the club’s coach, said he was determined to strengthen the team and guide it to a higher level of competition. He said the immediate objective was to secure promotion to the NSL, while the club also has a long-term ambition of eventually reaching the Premier League.
“I have taken this team with an aim to uplift it,” Amuoka said, noting that the team had received the necessary support to carry out its preparations.
Team manager Nicholas Kibet said the squad was ready for the new campaign and had intensified its training ahead of the league. He said the introduction of a new coach had brought a different approach to the team’s preparations as the players seek to improve on last season’s fourth-place finish.
Kibet also thanked Kipchimchim Group, the club’s sponsor, for its continued support, saying the backing had helped provide the team with the amenities and support required as it prepares for the new season.
The Kipchimchim Group is a diversified Kenyan business group with interests in sectors including agriculture, tea, sugar, retail, logistics, mining and construction. Its sponsorship of the football club provides support for the team as it seeks to progress through the Kenyan football league structure.
With preparations already underway, the club’s players and technical bench are now waiting for the new season to begin, with promotion to the NSL remaining the immediate target. The team also hopes that sustained progress will eventually enable it to compete at the highest level of Kenyan football.
