Members of Parliament (MPs) allied to the Kenya Kwanza government have dismissed a report by Kenya Human Rights Commission (KHRC) claims that hustler funds are politically expedient and economically disastrous.
The report titled “Failing the hustlers,” further alleges that the fund is structurally unsound, economically unsustainable and politically manipulated.
Led by Mwala MP who is also UDA Organising Secretary, Vincent Musyoka defended the fund saying there have been many gains to Kenyans noting it should be praised instead.
“The hustler fund should attract praise due to its visible benefits to members of the public across the country,” said Musyoka during an empowerment drive for boda riders at Matutu in Kibwezi Constituency on Tuesday.
At the same time, he dismissed the opposition claims while accusing them of misinforming Kenyans, and urged members of the public to disregard them and instead should take advantage of the government programmes to benefit themselves.
On his part, Kibwezi West Constituency MP Mwengi Mutuse who was the host echoed the same sentiments and accused the critics of the government of lacking a development agenda to offer to Kenyans.
Speaking at the same forum, the President’s Aide Farouk Kibet Dismissed government critics and said that they were tribalists who are out to misguide Kenyans.
Also, Nominated MP Sabina Chege and her counterpart for Mathira Constituency Eric Wamumbi dismissed the former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua noting that during his tenure, he achieved nothing and asked the Kamba Community not to fall into his trap.
