Nairobi Water Company flags off leak detection vans

Nairobi City Water & Sewerage Company Ltd (NCWSC) has taken a major step towards improved water service delivery following the official flagging off of new Leak Detection Vans by the Acting Managing Director (Ag. MD), Martin Nangole.

The Leak Detection Vans will play a key role in supporting the company’s efforts to reduce water losses across the transmission and distribution network.

Notably, the vans are designed to help identify hidden leaks, monitor water usage, and support faster response to faults, thereby preserving vital water resources and improving supply reliability for customers.

“These specialised Leak Detection Vans will greatly improve how we monitor and manage our network by enabling accurate leak detection, quicker repairs, and reduced disruption to communities,” stated Nangole.

“This investment reflects our commitment to improving efficiency, safeguarding water, and enhancing customer satisfaction,” he added.

According to the Ag. MD, the specialised vans are equipped with modern tools that allow teams to accurately locate underground leaks, minimise unnecessary excavation, and reduce repair time and disruption to roads and communities.

Further, he reported that the equipment will also support the identification of illegal connections and help monitor water use during night hours to confirm whether high usage is caused by leakage or unauthorised consumption.

The deployment of the Leak Detection Vans forms part of Nairobi Water’s broader strategy to enhance service reliability, reduce water losses, and improve customer satisfaction in line with the County Government’s commitment to sustainable water management.
