New Dispensary to Boost Access to Healthcare

Residents of Esarunoto village in Kajiado East constituency can now breathe a sigh of relief following the commissioning of Esarunoto dispensary, a health facility which will ensure residents have access to the primary healthcare services within their vicinity.

Speaking during the official opening, Kajiado County Deputy Governor Martin Moshisho said that the facility marked a significant step in improving access to healthcare for the people of Esarunoto, Mbuko and Munchu areas.

He appreciated the efforts made by the county health employees including community health promoters saying that they ensure residents get essential healthcare services at the grassroot level.

The Deputy Governor urged the residents to continue registering with The Social Healthy Authority (SHA) for affordable access to health services.

County Executive Committee Member for Health, Alex Kilowua said that the county will continue to employ healthcare workers in the county in addition to ensuring that there are adequate drugs in all health facilities across the county.

“We are very excited with the recent pronouncement by President William Ruto that he has provided Sh10 billion to Kenya Medical Supplies Authority(KEMSA) to ensure it has the right medication so that when we order as counties, we are able to get what we need,” said Kilowua.

He stated that the county remains committed in bringing healthcare services closer to the people and revealed that Ilmukutani dispensary will be complete in the next two months while Emali and Masimba dispensaries are also in the pipeline.

Poka-Kenyawa Member of County Assembly Benard Moloma urged the residents to make use of the dispensary as it is equipped with adequate equipment required in operations.

He pledged to ensure that the Emali and Masimba dispensaries are completed by the county so that every location in the ward has its own dispensary.

Irene Leshinka, one of the area residents appreciated the county government for the hospital saying that they will no longer have to walk long distances to access health services.

“Some expectant mothers sometimes deliver their babies on the road due to lack of maternity services nearby. We are grateful that we now have a fully operational dispensary which will decrease maternal deaths resulting from childbirth complications,” she said.

Other residents also lauded the county government for the dispensary saying they will no longer have to dread encountering wildlife on their way to hospital as they can now be treated within their home vicinity.
