The newly appointed Kericho County Commissioner(CC), Ali Omari, has called on public servants in the county to fully support the implementation of government programmes and ensure timely completion of ongoing projects for the benefit of wananchi.
Speaking during a handing-over ceremony in Kericho, Omari said effective service delivery would only be achieved through teamwork, consultation and commitment among all government departments operating in the county.
The incoming County Commissioner, who takes over from Jeremiah Mwai Gicheru, said public officers had a collective responsibility to ensure government initiatives succeeded at the grassroots level.
He urged heads of departments and officers across the county to remain focused on delivering services efficiently and professionally in line with the government’s development agenda.
“Let’s not ask ourselves what the government will do. We are the government and must work to ensure that ongoing government projects are completed in good time,” said Omari.
He emphasized the importance of unity among public servants, noting that consultations and close collaboration would help address challenges affecting implementation of programmes in the county.
Omari further said wananchi expected visible results from government officers and challenged civil servants to remain accountable and responsive to the needs of the public.
He noted that successful implementation of national government programmes depended largely on commitment and coordination among officers at the county level.
At the same time, the outgoing County Commissioner, Jeremiah Mwai Gicheru, urged departmental heads and other public officers in Kericho to accord his successor maximum support to ensure continuity in service delivery.
Gicheru, who has been transferred to Tana River County in the same capacity said cooperation from officers in Kericho had greatly contributed to achievements realized during his tenure.
He observed that teamwork among government departments had enabled smooth coordination of government activities and implementation of key programmes across the county.
The outgoing commissioner commended security agencies, administrators and departmental heads for maintaining close collaboration in executing government mandates.
Gicheru expressed confidence that the county administration would continue working harmoniously under the new leadership for the benefit of residents.
The handing-over ceremony brought together senior government officials, heads of departments and members of the county security team who pledged to continue supporting government programmes in the region.
The transition now sets the stage for the new County Commissioner to oversee implementation of ongoing development projects and coordinate national government operations in Kericho County.
