One person died on the spot while another was admitted to hospital with serious injuries after a motorcycle they were riding collided with a trailer along Wote-Makindu Road in Makueni Sub-County.
The accident occurred at 8:30 a.m. on Friday at Neema area near Nyunzu Market when a Mercedes Benz trailer, registration number KCS 027G/ZE5263, was overtaking a Skygo motorcycle, registration number KMCE 424L, as both vehicles headed towards Wote town.

“The trailer was overtaking when it hit the motorcycle from behind, leading to the loss of one life and leaving the rider injured,” said Makueni Police Station Deputy Base Commander, Inspector Samuel Ledama, while confirming the accident to KNA.
Speaking after the accident, Muvao/Kikumini Ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) Kawembe Mutinda expressed concern over the rising number of road accidents in the area and urged the Kenya National Highways Authority (KENHA) to erect speed bumps along the section.
“This is the third accident reported here in the recent past. Residents are deeply worried, and it is high time KENHA put in speed bumps to curb accidents on this road,” said Kawembe.
Earlier, irate residents barricaded the road, disrupting traffic along the busy stretch, but police intervened to disperse the crowd.
The trailer driver was detained at Makueni Police Station, and both the vehicle and the damaged motorcycle were impounded for inspection. The body of the deceased was taken to Makueni County Referral Hospital mortuary awaiting autopsy.
