Police in Kuresoi have launched investigations to establish the source of the alcohol which claimed life of a 32-year-old man over the weekend during the rite of passage celebration.
According to police report, the 32-year-old man who succumbed after consuming the illicit brew during a rite of passage celebration in Kuresoi, Nakuru County it’s alleged that the victim consumed excess of the substance.
A second man who was rushed to hospital in critical condition after the two were found lying unconscious by the roadside in Olubumbu village, where residents had gathered to celebrate the graduation of circumcised boys.
Police said the pair had consumed excessive alcohol during the festival. One of the victims, Sammy Karenjo, was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital. His body has since been moved to the mortuary for a post-mortem.
The incident comes amid an intensify a nationwide crackdown on illicit brews, leading to the destruction of thousands of litres of outlawed alcohol and the arrest of dozens of suspected brewers.
