Shabana FC suffered their first defeat at home after a 2-1 loss to Posta Rangers in an FKF Premier League match played at Gusii stadium on Wednesday.

The match began with high intensity and both teams created chances before the visitors found the back of the net through a set piece in the last minute of the first half.

The second half was packed with action and in the 62nd minute of the game, Shabana was awarded a penalty which was saved by the Posta Rangers’ goalkeeper Frederick Odhiambo.

The visitors doubled the lead when Teddy Trevor scored a thunderbolt in the 76th minute of the game to seal the victory.

The Glamour Boys got one goal back in the 92nd minute of the match through Victor Omondi, but it was not enough to assist the team to continue with their unbeaten run at home.

The defeat leaves Shabana in second place in the league standings with seven points while Posta Rangers climb to the top of the table with 10 points.

Shabana’s Head Coach Peter Okidi said his team failed to take their chances, especially when they missed the penalty because it would have determined the final result.

He said the loss is a wakeup call to the players and the technical bench to work on rectifying the mistakes made in the pitch.

Posta Rangers Head Coach Sammy Omollo hailed his players for controlling the game in a tough ground and bagging the three points to go top of the table.

Omollo who previously coached Shabana, attributed the win to adequate preparation adding that he was determined to keep the unbeaten run going.

Meanwhile, the Football Kenya Federation announced the suspension of all league games to mourn the demise of the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
