Quarrel over milk ends in death in Bureti

Police officers in Bureti are holding in custody a 26-year-old man suspected to have killed his father at their home in Korongoi sub-location on Saturday following a quarrel over milk.
Confirming the incident, Bureti Sub County Police Commander Felician Tengeye said the deceased identified as Samuel Kipng’etich Rotich picked a quarrel with his son Philemon Kipg’eno Ng’etich at around midnight when they disagreed over milk.
She added that the son picked a wooden plank from a broken table and bashed his 65-year-old father several times on the head critically injuring him after the old man accused him of taking milk that had been kept in the family kitchen.
The father was rushed to AIC Mission Hospital in Litein where he succumbed to his head injuries at around 1.30am on Monday added Tengeye. His wife Grace Rotich reported the matter to the police at 4.30am.
The Bureti Sub County Police boss added that the suspect was apprehended and taken to Bureti police station where he is being held awaiting to be arraigned in court once police complete investigations into the matter.
Contacted by KNA, the area assistant chief Mr. David Kimeto said the suspect is a class six dropout who previously worked as a boda boda operator before selling his motorcycle this year.
“The late Samuel Kipngetich Rotich had on two occasions sold a portion of his land and given his son some money to buy a motorcycle for boda boda transport business. After sale of his land in 2019, he gave his son money to buy boda boda motorcycle. The son sold the first motorcycle and squandered the money while the second motorcycle he claimed was stolen rendering him jobless.
The body of the deceased is lying at AIC Litein Mission Hospital mortuary awaiting a post mortem examination.
