Residents of Kondoo area celebrate road and street lighting projects

Residents and traders in Tarakwa Ward have commended the Uasin Gishu County Government for its efforts to improve infrastructure through road rehabilitation and the installation of street lights in the Kondoo commercial centre and Koiwoarusen area.

Speaking during an inspection tour led by the County’s Roads County Executive, Abraham Serem, the residents said the projects have begun to bring new hope to the community by enhancing security, stimulating trade and facilitating potato farming activities, which are the mainstay of the area.

Some traders explained that the street lights will help increase business hours, while better roads are expected to facilitate the transportation of produce to markets.

“All the roads in our area now won’t present challenge again when it rains, we can go to school, our farms without getting stuck as before,” said Mike Kiprono, a resident from Kondoo, Uasin Gishu

“The road here had many potholes but now it is smooth, thanks to the county leadership led by Governor Chelilim,” said Sharon Chepchirchir, a resident from Tarakwa

Uasin Gishu Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii Chelilim said the initiative will play a key role in improving transportation of people, goods and services in the remote areas.

He said, “Now school buses can carry learners to and from schools safely and on time without delay as before. Business people can transport their merchandise easily to customers, hence improving efficiency.”

Speaking during the event, Serem stressed the commitment of Governor Chelilim in the implementation of Pillar number six which aims to strengthen infrastructure to improve the lives of the people.

During the visit, CECM Serem was accompanied by the Kesses Sub-County Administrator Nelson Chepkwony and the Road Construction Affairs Officer Abraham Korir.
