Security guards killed in Oyugis town

Two security guards who were brutally assaulted by criminals in Oyugis town in Homa Bay County last night have died.
The two, Samson Oyugi, 60, and his 25-year- old colleague Julius Pasaruk died this morning while undergoing treatment at Matata Nursing Hospital in Oyugis town where they were rushed after the attack.
Confirming the incident, Rachuonyo South Sub-County Police Commander Lilies Wachira said the duo was guarding a new motorcycles shop at about 1.am when the thugs attacked and seriously injured them with crude weapons.
“The gang raided the shop at about 1 a.m. and brutally injured the guards as they attempted to prevent them from breaking into the shop,” Wachira expounded.
The Police Commander said another guard from a nearby shop sneaked and reported the matter to police officers who were patrolling the town.
Wachira however said by the time the officers arrived at the scene, the thugs had already fled without stealing anything from the premises. He said they have launched investigations to ensure the culprits are brought to book.
The bodies were moved to Rachuonyo South Sub-county Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem.
