National Government Administrative Officers (NGAO) in Bungoma county have resolved to intensify sensitization programs on the National Youth Opportunities towards Advancement (NYOTA) project to enable youths from the area to apply and benefit from the program.
The area County Commissioner (C.C.), Thomas Sankei, said that the NGAO officers will mobilize the youths who may not be aware of the program in order to achieve the target of 70 youths per ward.
He was speaking during a sensitization meeting on the project for stakeholders from the County that was held at Red Cross office in Kanduyi, Bungoma yesterday.
The C.C. said that the youth between the age of 18 to 29 years and 35 years for People Living with Disabilities will be guided by dialing the number *254# that will guide them to go through the process.
Bungoma County Deputy Governor, Jennipher Mbatiany, thanked the government for initiating the program that targets to transform the lives and benefit many youth adding that they comprise the majority in the country
She said that some youths have used their energy negatively through social media due to lack of specific projects to do and that it was important that through the NYOTA project that youths will be empowered and engage in meaning full projects to earn an income.
The Deputy Governor called on the youths to take up the saving culture that will enable them set aside some of the cash advanced to them to make them responsible people in society.
She said that County government officers will work together with NGAO to ensure information on the program reaches a high number of the youths.
