Shabana FC Triumph 2-1 over Bidco United

Gusii-based side Shabana FC continued their fine run in the FKF Premier League with a 2-1 win against Bidco United in a fixture played at Gusii Stadium on Wednesday.

The hosts went 1-0 up in the 20th minute when Austine Odongo broke away and opened the scoring after a defensive error by Bidco’s defence.

Bidco equalized in the 37th minute after Clinton Asiago converted a set piece to send both teams into the break on level scores.

In the 60th minute of the second half of the game, Shabana’s creative midfielder Keith Imbali was fouled in the box and the home team were awarded a penalty.

Brian Michira stepped up and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way to restore Shabana’s lead.

Shabana FC’s Coach Peter Okidi who spoke after the match thanked the players, the fans and the technical bench for their contribution towards the win.

“It has not been an easy game and we have to work harder and push for the next one,” said Okidi.

Bidco United’s Coach Antony Akhulia, however, expressed his disappointment with the decision by the referee to award the home team a penalty.

The win leaves Shabana FC fourth on the league standings with 52 points while Bidco United remains in the relegation zone with 29 points.
