Well-wisher builds house for vulnerable Karachuonyo widow

A 49-year-old widow from Raruowa Village in Kibiri Ward, Karachuonyo Constituency, has received a major boost after a well-wisher built her a new house valued at Sh250,000.

Pamela Ondeng’e, who has been widowed for the last 15 years, had been staying in a worn-out mud house that residents described as unsafe and close to collapsing.

The condition of the house reportedly worsened during rainy seasons, forcing her to endure leaking roofs, cold nights, and difficult living conditions.

During the official handover of the new house, Pamela expressed gratitude for the support, saying life had been extremely challenging before receiving the assistance.

The donor, Kennedy Ongati, said he decided to intervene after learning about Ondeng’e’s struggles and visiting her home in person. According to Ongati, the condition in which she was living touched him and inspired him to mobilise resources to help improve her situation.

He further announced that he intended to continue supporting Pamela by purchasing bedding for her and paying for her Social Health Authority (SHA) medical cover for one year.

Residents who had gathered to celebrate with Ondeng’e praised Ongati for coming to the aid of a vulnerable member of the community.

They echoed that the new house has restored her dignity and protected her from danger, as the previous structure posed a serious risk.

The residents urged more individuals and leaders to support needy families within the community.
