Woman accused of boyfriend’s murder to undergo mental tests

A 42-year-old mother of three accused of fatally stabbing her 28-year-old boyfriend following a dispute over a blanket worth Sh1,500 was arraigned in the High Court in Eldoret to answer to murder charges.

The accused, Salome Cherobon, who appeared calm and was barefoot was presented before Deputy Registrar Daniel Sitati but was not required to enter a plea.
Sitati ordered that she be escorted to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital for a mental test to ascertain whether she was fit to stand murder trial.

He further directed that the suspect be transferred from the custody of Eldoret Central Police Station where she had been held for over two weeks since her arrest to Eldoret women remand prison.

“I direct that the accused person be escorted to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital for mental assessment to determine whether she is fit to take plea in the murder case facing her,” ruled Sitati.

The accused was arrested by a team of police officers attached to Baharini Police station in connection with the killing of her estranged boyfriend Moses Ihaji Mukabwa.

The case was scheduled for mention on May 28, 2026.
