Lugari Member of Parliament (MP) Nabii Nabwera has announced plans to establish an integrated special needs school at Maturu.
The MP said the construction of the school will commence once he concludes talks with friends and partners who have expressed willingness to provide funds for the facility.
Speaking during a church function at Matumbwani Friends Church (Quakers) in Lwandeti Ward, Nabwera said the school will go up to grade 12.
He urged parents who have children with disabilities not to hide them at home but to take them to school.
“When I was in London recently, I saw one of the ministers in government who is blind; so why are you hiding your children with disabilities at home, it’s not right; God has a reason why he gave you that child,” the MP disclosed.
The MP also announced plans to construct a modern twin laboratory at Mabuye Secondary school.
“I will be commissioning classrooms at Luandeti DEB and launching the construction of four new ones next week,” he said.
