A 53-year-old renowned lawyer in Narok town who is suspected to have shot a 35-year-old advocate was arraigned in a Narok court and charged with murder after a medical report showed that he was mentally fit to take the plea.
Paul Sena allegedly shot dead Mandela Nabaala on July 12, 2025 at Mara Junction club after a disagreement between the two.
Sena was brought before Narok Chief Magistrate (CM) Charles Kariuki under tight security, where he pleaded not guilty.
The court procession was marred with drama as relatives and friends of the deceased flocked the courtroom in large numbers bringing commotion in court.
The CM was forced to adjourn the proceedings for a while to allow the security team to take control of the growing crowd in the court premises.
The police were forced to push the mob out of the court premises, before screening each individual to ensure no one was in possession of any dangerous weapon like rungu and swords.
When the session resumed, the suspect’s advocate Harrison Kinyanjui pleaded with court to release his client on bond promising to adhere to all the rulings given in court.
However, his prayer was sharply opposed by advocates Parseen Masikonde, Charles Langat and Kaitikei Rotiken representing the deceased family, who argued that the suspect could interfere with the witnesses if allowed to flee on bond.
The case will be brought in court again on August 4, 2025, when the court will rule on whether the suspect will be released on bond or not.
