Aspirant drops demand to repeat UDA primaries

Aspirant for Olkalou Constituency seat, George Wambugu alias delight, has dropped his demand for a repeat of UDA primaries.

Wambugu, a businessman in Olkalou who disputed the outcome of Ol Kalou UDA, has dropped his demand thus giving the ruling party a chance to forward name of Samuel Muchina to IEBC.

However, Wambugu’s call to his supporters to throw their weight behind Muchina has not gone down well with the core team that was coordinating his campaign.

His core team is made up of fully fledged secretariat complete with strategists, researchers, data analysts, actual scientists, ward coordinators and grassroots community mobilizers.

The team has set stringent conditions before agreeing to support Muchina; saying they need to have a written agreement with Muchina on how they will benefit if he wins the July 16, 2026 polls.

Wambugu, came second after getting 3077 votes behind Muchina who got 3221 votes during the UDA nominations held on May 8, this year.

John Kariuki who was in charge of Rurii ward said, “if we are going to throw our weight behind Muchina then there should a written agreement on sharing of benefits if UDA wins” adding that members of the team must get jobs in the NG-CDF office in Ol Kalou town on a 50-50 basis.

Simon Kibe,a Wambugus supporter who supported the power-sharing proposal saying, “Team Delight must be treated as equal partners by the Muchina side,”

Another supporter Simon Ndung’u from Silanga said Muchina will to benefit a lot if Wambugu team throws its weight behind the Muchina, and he agrees to accommodate its members.

Youths who manned the Team Delight call centre called upon Muchina takes over promise of job opportunities that Wambugu had given them.

The youth said they had high hopes of getting jobs if Delight was elected the next MP for Ol Kalou to replace the late David Kiaraho who died in March this year

Bishop Michael Kariuki advised Wambugu to wait for next year’s general election to return to the arena.
