Mwala Member of Parliament Vincent Kawaya has hailed the government for lowering higher education fee saying the move was very beneficial to needy bright students nationwide.
He noted that the reduction of tuition will enable vulnerable students to access university education without having to worry about funding, which has been a major challenge to date.
The legislator was addressing youths at Kathiani Sub County, Machakos county during the local boda boda operator’s empowerment drive, where he commended the government efforts in ensuring quality education.
He pointed out that the directive aligns with the government’s new student centered funding that tends to combine scholarships, tuition fees and loans that depend on an individual student’s financial needs.
The MP added that the directive is set to take place in 1st September 2025 as it applies to both first year and continuing students.
Musyoka at the same time assured the Kathiani boda boda operators of the government’s support in empowering them, which aligns with Bottom-up Transformation Agenda (BETA) that is focused on transforming lives and enhancing economic productivity while cautioning them against divisive politics.
“BETA is set to uplift and empower the vulnerable and low income people and this empowerment program is a way for the government to support such people.
Those fighting the government do not understand this so let’s avoid divisive politics,” added Musyoka.
