Uasin Gishu to boost water supply in Eldoret town

By E, KNA

The County Administration of Uasin Gishu on Monday held a high-level consultative meeting with the management of Eldoret Water and Sanitation Company (ELDOWAS) to develop a plan for enhancing water supply for Eldoret’s growing population.

With the Eldoret’s skyline rapidly changing due to major investments and the ongoing affordable housing projects, the demand for clean water is projected to rise significantly.

Acknowledging this urgency, the County leadership led by Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii Chelilim underscored the importance of proactive planning to avert potential shortages as urban expansion gathers pace.

Governor Dr. Bii, accompanied by senior officials from the Department of Water and Environment, led discussions with the ELDOWAS team to review and prioritize long-term solutions.

The agenda centered on expanding and strengthening the water distribution network to guarantee that every household across Uasin Gishu County has access to clean, safe, and reliable water.

The team reaffirmed Governor Dr. Bii’s commitment to Nguzo Number 7 of his development agenda — ensuring sustainable infrastructure and universal access to essential services. They jointly pledged to pursue practical, forward-looking solutions to secure the county’s water needs as Eldoret continues to grow.

This partnership marks a critical step towards building resilient urban infrastructure capable of supporting both present and future generations in Uasin Gishu County.

Others present were Mr. Anthony Sitienei, (CECM for Water, Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy), Mr. Elijah Koech, (Chief Officer for Water and Sanitation), Mr. Mark Some, (Chief Officer for Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy), Mr. Erastus Kerich, (Director of Administration in the Department).
