Laikipia county executives have been put on performance contracting as a strategy to boost service delivery for residents for the two-year remaining period.

Area governor Joshua Irungu, speaking in Nanyuki after performance contract signing by the executive said that he was keen on delivering promises made to the residents in various sectors of agriculture, health and infrastructure for the remaining two year-period by partnering with the County Assembly for oversight role.

He tasked MCAs with overseeing county development projects in their respective wards to ensure all pledges were met warning that if they fail, they all will be sent packing at the next General Election.

The county boss, who is serving his second term in office, said that performance contract sighing by his County Executive Committees Members (CECMs) and Chief Officers (CO) will also ensure they work on clear targets for the remaining term in office.

“There are pledges we told residents on issues of agriculture, education, employment creation for our youth and it’s been three years since we assumed office, although there are some areas we have delivered therefore, it’s good to set clear targets on what remains need to be achieved,” said Irungu.
