Elders from Vihiga County have endorsed Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya to spearhead efforts to unite the Western Kenya region ahead of the 2027 General Elections.

Vihiga elders drawn from the Maragoli, Bunyore, and Tiriki communities on Saturday endorsed Governor George Natembeya, giving him the mandate to unite the Western region ahead of the 2027 elections. The crowning event was held at Kiritu in Sabatia Sub-County.

The elders said the region has for years lacked a single voice in national politics and expressed confidence that Governor Natembeya can provide the leadership needed to consolidate the community.

“Our people have remained fragmented for long. Today we give Governor Natembeya the blessings of the elders to unite Western and ensure our interests are safeguarded at the national level,” said one of the elders during the event.

Governor Natembeya welcomed the endorsement, saying he was humbled by the trust and pledged to work with leaders across the region to promote unity and development.

“I am honored by this gesture from our elders. Western Kenya deserves unity and a strong voice in national leadership. I will work with all leaders of goodwill to ensure our people benefit,” he said.

The endorsement comes as political leaders in the region continue to position themselves ahead of the 2027 polls.
