By A, KNA

St. Peter’s Elburgon was on Wednesday crowned champion of the Molo Constituency music competition organized by area MP Kimani Kuria, aimed at nurturing local talent and empowering choirs across the constituency.

The competition brought together choirs from all four wards and was designed to promote peace and harmony among residents, who previously experienced tensions in the area.

Speaking at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Molo, during the festival, MP Kuria emphasized his commitment to talent development. “Under my leadership, all residents with talent in music and sports will be given avenues to showcase their abilities,” he said.

The legislator noted that Molo has traditionally focused on sports, and incorporating music into constituency programs allows more talents to be discovered and appreciated. “This year, we focused on choirs who entertain us during worship yet often go unrecognized. All participating teams will be rewarded, with the minimum prize being Sh10,000,” MP Kuria said.

Choir masters Peter Odiri of St. Peter Elburgon and Joseph Mathenge of St. Mary’s Catholic Molo praised the MP for investing in grassroots talent. They highlighted the level of competition, noting that it has elevated musical standards in the constituency.

Odiri said, “We are happy our MP remembered the music department. Molo has huge potential in music that requires support.”

Mathenge added, “The level of competition today was encouraging. All teams performed admirably and proved their capabilities.”

St. Peter’s Elburgon emerged the overall winner, taking home a grand prize of Sh200,000. All participating teams received recognition for their efforts, reflecting the constituency’s commitment to fostering talent across age groups.

With the music festival concluded, attention now shifts to sports, with teams preparing for a major weekend of competitive activities. MP Kuria affirmed that both music and sports will continue to receive support as part of his broader agenda to develop talent and promote unity within Molo Constituency.
