Interior and National Administration Principal Secretary (PS), Raymond Omollo, has affirmed that the government will soon operationalise all gazetted administrative units across the country to have services closer to people.
Omollo, who spoke during a harambee for one of the Community-Based Organisations (CBO) in Agenga village in North Kadem Ward-Nyatike Sub-county, said that in the next six months, the administrative units will be operationalized, to ensure service equity for the people at the local levels.
The PS, who also met youths from Agenga village for a series of people-centred empowerment initiatives, urged them not to be used by politicians to settle political scores.
“I want to urge the youths to take-up opportunities presented by the government to empower themselves economically, rather than waiting for handouts from politicians, who use them to set and settle their political woes,” said Omollo.
The Interior PS added that the government was in the process of expanding the Lower Kuja Irrigation Scheme to boost rice production in the country, as well as create job opportunities for the youth of Nyatike and Migori at large.
Already, 7,200 acres at the Lower Kuja Irrigation Scheme in Nyatike Sub-County are under irrigation with the potential to expand to 19,000 acres.
PS Omolo, who also oversaw the commissioning of the local Konyango West Football Tournament, disclosed that the government initiative of Huduma Mashinani, will enable more youths to access services at the grassroots level, especially on the acquisition of the National Identification Card (IDs).
He called upon the youth to ensure they utilise the initiative, to acquire their ID, a crucial document that is required to access government services, as well as a voting document, as the country prepares for the 2027 General Elections.
Omollo, however, urged the Nyanza community, to embrace the Broad-Based Government, to ensure it delivers its agenda.
“Let’s all support our President to achieve his agenda for the people to benefit from the fruits of our taxpayers’ money,” he noted.
In attendance were Nyatike Member of Parliament (MP), Tom Odege, Uriri MP Mark Nyamita and Samwel Atandi-MP Alego Usonga, who drummed-up support for the Broad-Based Government.
