Road and drainage works underway in Thogoto

Residents of Thogoto Ward in Kikuyu Constituency are set to benefit from improved road infrastructure, following the ongoing implementation of Phase II road improvement works along the Maple Clicks–Thogoto Cemetery–Southern Bypass corridor.

The project involves extensive earthworks aimed at upgrading the road network to improve accessibility, reduce travel time, and facilitate the smooth movement of people, goods, and services within the area.

At the same time, drainage improvement works are underway along the Thirime Primary School access road to address persistent waterlogging that has affected the road, particularly during the rainy season.

The drainage works are expected to enhance road durability while ensuring safer and easier access for learners, teachers, parents, and motorists using the route.

Speaking during an inspection of the ongoing works, Kikuyu Member of Parliament Kimani Ichung’wah said the projects are part of the constituency’s broader infrastructure development agenda aimed at improving connectivity across various parts of the constituency.

“The ongoing works demonstrate our commitment to providing quality road infrastructure that serves the needs of our people. Better roads not only improve transport but also open up opportunities for trade, education, and access to essential services,” said Ichung’wah.

He noted that improving feeder roads remains a priority because they play a critical role in linking residential areas with schools, health facilities, markets, and major highways.

The MP added that the drainage improvements near Thirime Primary School would help protect the road from damage caused by runoff while providing a safer environment for school-going children and other road users.

Area residents have welcomed the project, expressing optimism that the improved roads will ease movement and lower vehicle maintenance costs associated with poor road conditions.

The Maple Clicks–Thogoto Cemetery–Southern Bypass Road serves as an important link connecting local neighborhoods to the Southern Bypass, while the Thirime Primary School access road is widely used by members of the school community and surrounding residents.

The ongoing works form part of continued efforts to enhance infrastructure within Kikuyu Constituency through investments in roads and drainage systems aimed at supporting economic growth and improving the quality of life for local communities.
