The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Muranga branch has trained 16 coaches who graduated with CAF D Diploma in a ten-day event held at Kimorori Primary School. The training started on the 3rd of August 2026 and ended on the 14th of August 2026.
The training consisted of theory and practical classes, equipping them with practical experience for the coaches who are already coaching different teams in different competitions in Murang’a and beyond. Among the 16 coaches trained, some graduated with the introductory coaching course, which was offered in December 2025.
One can only be trained in a CAF D coaching license if he has the introductory coaching license, which builds the foundation for coaching, and has practiced the coaching art.
During the event, FKF chairman Muranga branch, Mr. Benson Mwangi, was happy to witness the graduation of the 16 coaches with CAF D diplomas. “This is the first time ever in Muranga County that we have held this class; despite the challenges, it was important to make sure we bring this class and as many of the classes as possible.”
He added that their vision is to ensure that any team that plays in the sub-county level has at least a coach who has the Introductory Coaching Certificate and also has a licensed coach for all teams participating in FKF within the county.
In addition, he congratulated the team for their dedication and for stepping out to undergo the training and empower themselves with the skill.
He also encouraged the trainees to put the skill into practice to inspire more people and develop the grassroots football and also they qualify for CAF C when offered. “Hii license usiieke kwa mfuko tu go and develop your team and also make an effort to advance to CAF C tukiileta.”
The secretary, Mr. Elias Mwaura, emphasized individual effort by putting into practice whatever the coaches had trained in the field to nurture more talents so as to ensure when CAF C they are qualified to advance.
Among those who undertook the training and graduated was Kenyan football legend Vincent Onyango Ochieng, who won three Kenyan Premier League titles with the military side Ulinzi Stars FC. He was happy to graduate as CAF D license so that he can guide and mentor other players.
“Since I am now qualified as a coach, I will be able to combine my experience to help the upcoming players to the next level. I have learned more things I didn’t despite that I was a player.”
He also thanked the FKF and FKF Muranga branch for their collaboration and dedication to better football in the country. Additionally, Coach Vincent urged ex-players to join the coaching side to develop football in the country.
On 17th August, the FKF Muranga branch organized an introductory coaching course for new coaches and also referee training at the same venue.
