Kiambu Town Member of Parliament Machua Waithaka has overseen major renovation works at Kiambu Primary School during the school holiday to improve the learning environment.
The renovation, being implemented through the Kiambu Town National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF), follows the completion of 11 new classrooms and includes a facelift of the existing infrastructure.
The works include replacing old roofs, windows, and doors; installing floor tiles in classrooms; fitting new blackboards; constructing a perimeter wall along the playground; and installing modern gates at the school’s main entrance and playground entrance.
Kiambu Town NG-CDF Constituency Manager Aloysius Njoroge said the project was part of ongoing investment in public school infrastructure aimed at providing learners with a safe and conducive learning environment.
“There were potholes in the classrooms, and the roof leaked, forcing learners to crowd in one corner during rainy days, which was inconvenient for both teachers and learners. The rainwater would even destroy their books since most of them left them at school,” said Njoroge.

He said the new perimeter wall was a key component of the project, as it would help secure the school compound and protect learners.
Njoroge noted that outsiders had been accessing the school compound, with some allegedly engaging in drug-related activities, making the wall an important measure to safeguard learners from exposure to such activities.
“Providing learners with a conducive learning environment motivates them, reduces distractions from outside, and supports efforts to improve education standards in Kiambu,” he said.
The Kiambu Town NG-CDF continues to support education through bursaries and infrastructure development projects aimed at strengthening public learning institutions across the constituency.
