Busia County government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Museums of Kenya to establish a cultural village.
Speaking during Bunyala North culture and sports expo, the area MCA Fred Musirimba said the facility will act as an archival memorial of the traditional society.
“The National Museums has agreed to spend Sh30 million for the construction of the facility so that the community can learn about their cultural heritage,” he said.
He stated that a six acre parcel of land had been set aside at Sisenye area for the proposed village adding that paper work will be finalised within one month.
The local legislator at the same time said the county government will come up with a policy to legalize the traditional brew.
“So I want to ask police officers to stop arresting those taking the traditional brew,” he said adding only chang’aa and busaa are illegal,
Musimba suggested that the facility be established in Bunyala North but explained that professionals from the National Museums of Kenya will have the final say.
