Kipkelion East Member of Parliament Joseph Cherorot has urged students to uphold discipline, work hard in their studies and remain focused on their aspirations, saying education remains the most effective tool for transforming lives and communities.
Cherorot made the remarks during a visit to Tendeno Secondary School in Tendeno/Sorget Ward while on his way to the annual Mugumoini land prayer gathering, where he interacted with students and members of the teaching fraternity.
Addressing the learners, the legislator challenged them to remain committed in their education, observe discipline and make prudent decisions that would shape their future positively.
He noted that success in life is founded on determination, integrity and consistent hard work, urging students to avoid negative influences that could derail their academic progress.
He further encouraged the learners to set clear goals, remain focused on their ambitions and take advantage of the educational opportunities available to them to build successful careers and contribute meaningfully to national development.
Cherorot commended teachers for their dedication to nurturing learners academically and morally, saying their commitment continues to shape responsible citizens and future leaders.
The MP reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the education sector in Kipkelion East through continued investment in school infrastructure and programmes aimed at improving access to quality education.
He said education remains one of the key pillars of his development agenda and pledged to continue working with stakeholders to create a conducive learning environment for all learners.
Over the years, Cherorot has supported the construction and expansion of classrooms, laboratories, administration blocks and other learning facilities in various public schools across the constituency through the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF). The projects have helped ease congestion in schools while improving the quality of teaching and learning.
He has also consistently championed bursary programmes targeting students from vulnerable and disadvantaged families, enabling many learners to remain in school despite financial challenges.
The bursary initiative has eased the burden on parents and guardians while promoting equitable access to education across the constituency.
Besides infrastructure development and bursary support, the legislator has continued to encourage academic excellence by supporting school improvement initiatives and engaging education stakeholders on measures aimed at raising performance standards.
The lawmaker has maintained that investing in education is the most sustainable strategy for empowering young people and accelerating socio-economic development.
Cherorot urged students to remain focused, respect their teachers and parents, and uphold discipline both in and outside school, noting that the decisions they make today will determine the opportunities available to them in the future.
He reiterated that his office will continue partnering with school boards, teachers, parents and the Ministry of Education to strengthen education standards in Kipkelion East and ensure that every learner, regardless of their background, has an opportunity to achieve their full potential.
