The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) must stop giving conditions to president Dr. William Ruto, even as they continue to collaborate under the broad-based government.
Gem member of Parliament, Elisha Odhiambo, has said that both parties entered into an agreement in good faith and there was need to maintain the current arrangement, as the country heads towards the next general election.
The MP was speaking at Mutumbu in his Gem constituency, when he hosted the Abamani community from Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
He said that the President deserves unequivocal support from all Kenyans to enable him deliver on his promises to Kenyans.
Odhiambo said beginning next year, Kenyans will start appreciating the president’s affordable housing initiative, when most of the ongoing projects will be complete.
“Next year, people will begin to appreciate this when the government will be launching more than 10 complete projects every week” he said, adding that the president was also committed to the expansion of the Nairobi – Kisumu – Busia highway.
He lashed at the opposition, terming it a lame duck that cannot pose a threat to Ruto’s bid for second term.
Meanwhile, Odhiambo has called on ODM to ensure transparency and fairness prevails within the party during the primaries to nominate its flag bearers.
The legislator said the ping pong game that the party subjected him to during the last general elections, forcing him to seek judicial intervention should not recur.
“If ODM is a party worth its salt, it is only fair that they give me a direct ticket as its flag bearer during the next general election,” he said.
During the last general elections, the legislator was forced to take the party’s elections board to court after it nullified his win during party primaries. The court later ordered the party to give him the nomination certificate.
