Quick efforts by Uasin Gishu County firefighters saved assets worth millions of shillings after a fire broke out at Paul Boit Secondary School in Kamagut Ward, Turbo Constituency, on Monday night.
The Acting Director of the Department, Fredrick Serem, said they received a report of the incident at 11pm following which firefighters rushed to the school and extinguished the fire before it spread.
Serem added that the fire that started in the school’s main warehouse consumed only mattresses, firewood and food items that were inside.
He said no one was injured and investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire adding some students were later sent home by the school management after being suspected of causing the inferno.
The Fire Department has requested citizens, organizations and various departments in the region to use the numbers 0710 646 464, 0532 061 185 and 0706 389 888 to obtain assistance in times of emergency.
