Governor commends county workers for improving service delivery

Makueni Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr has lauded county employees for their dedication and contribution to improved service delivery and development across the county.

The Governor spoke during Africa Public Service Week celebrations held at Makueni Integrated Vocational Education Centre (MIVEC), where he addressed civil servants and recognised outstanding employees for exemplary performance.

During the event, Mutula issued appointment letters to 85 newly recruited officers, promoted 129 employees, confirmed 179 staff on permanent and pensionable terms, and redesignated 11 officers.

He said public servants play a critical role in transforming the lives of residents through efficient and professional service delivery.

“Public servants are the backbone of service delivery. Through their commitment and professionalism, they will continue to transform the lives of the residents,” said the Governor.

Mutula urged county employees to uphold integrity, dignity and excellence in their duties while assuring them that outstanding performance would continue to be recognised and rewarded.

He also congratulated the newly recruited and promoted officers, encouraging them to use their positions to positively impact the lives of wananchi and contribute to the county’s development agenda.

Among those recruited were more than 50 women and six persons living with disabilities, a move the Governor said reflects the county government’s commitment to inclusivity, diversity and equal employment opportunities.

During the ceremony, Makueni County Solicitor Jennifer Kyumwa administered the Oath of Secrecy to the newly recruited officers and reminded them of the ethical responsibilities expected of public servants.

Kyumwa urged the officers to maintain high standards of integrity, protect the dignity of their offices and promote public confidence in government institutions as required under Article 73 of the Constitution.

“Article 73 of the Constitution reminds us that public office is a trust bestowed upon us by the people. As public officers, you are expected to serve with integrity and bring honour and dignity to the offices you hold,” she said.

The event highlighted the county government’s efforts to strengthen public service and enhance service delivery through a motivated and professional workforce.
