Governor raises alarm over rising cases of Child Kidnappings

Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa has raised concern over the increasing cases of children being kidnapped and reported missing in different parts of the country.

Speaking in Matungu Constituency during the funeral service of Mama Teresa Khaemba, the Governor called on security agencies to strengthen surveillance and investigations in order to curb the worrying trend and bring those responsible to justice.

He also urged parents, teachers and guardians to remain vigilant and ensure the safety of children at all times.

At the same time, Barasa urged residents across the Western region to remain alert following the outbreak of Ebola disease in neighbouring Uganda.

The Governor advised residents to seek immediate medical attention whenever they experience unusual symptoms, noting that early detection and treatment are key in preventing the spread of the deadly virus.

He further appealed to health officials and community leaders to intensify public awareness campaigns to educate residents on preventive measures, including observing proper hygiene and promptly reporting suspected cases.

Barasa reaffirmed the county government’s commitment to safeguarding the health and security of residents through collaboration with health authorities and security agencies.
