Interior and National Administration Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo has said that the Government is committed to ensuring that the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) is fully equipped with enough teachers in Junior Secondary Schools (JSS).
Omollo, who spoke during a church service at Emmaus Catholic Church in Rongo town, said that President William Ruto’s government has already hired 76,000 teachers for Junior secondary schools to ensure the new curriculum is well implemented.
“Our target as government is to ensure that we hire 110,000 teachers as projected by the President and to equip our learners with tutors that will help steer the education sector in the country,” said Omollo.
The PS called on education stakeholders to work with the government to ensure that the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) students who missed out on university entry are admitted to various Technical institutions to get the necessary skills needed to drive the economy.
On health matters, Omollo urged Migori residents to register for the Taifa Care Programme under the Kenya Universal Health Coverage (UHC) initiative to ensure they benefit from the medical scheme tailored to offer better health care for all Kenyans.
The Taifa Care Programme has made significant progress, with 17 million Kenyans now registered under the Social Health Authority (SHA).
“Nobody should be left behind in terms of benefiting from the new Social Health Insurance scheme (SHIF) just because they have failed to register,” noted Omollo.
The PS who also launched a new police post in Miruya area in Central Kanyamkago ward-Uriri Sub County elaborated on the need to enhance security, saying that it was a collective responsibility to ensure the society is safe.
He said that as much as the government is tasked securing citizens and their properties, it’s up to the communities to work closely with security agencies to enhance security within their communities.
The PS explained that the establishment of the police station will play a critical role in safeguarding the lives and property of the Miruya area residents, fostering safety and creating an enabling environment for socio-economic growth in the county.
He retaliated that the government was committed to operationalising all the administration units within the counties to enhance security and better service delivery.
Migori Governor Ochilo Ayacko who accompanied the PS said that he will continue to work with the government of the day to ensure efficient service delivery to Migori residents.
Present were also Migori Senator Eddy Oketch, Uriri Member of Parliament (MP) Mark Nyamita and Mogotio MP Reuben Kiborek.
