Huduma Center Embu staff marked this year’s Customer Service Week by donating assorted food and non-food items to orphaned children at St Angela Embu Children’s Home.
The donation was part of the sacrifice they made by foregoing one meal of money daily for a week in a bid to support the less fortunate children in the society.
Consequently, the approximately 70 staff members used the money to buy assorted foodstuffs, sanitary materials and confectionaries for the orphans to lift their spirits.
The staff also planted several fruit trees in the compound as part of the greening initiative, as they also spent quality time with the children.
“We have been doing this annually as part of giving back to the society and reaching out to the community that we serve on a daily basis,” said Center Manager Ruth Wacera.
She continued, “We came here to share our love, compassion and emotional support with these less privileged members of our society to lift their spirits and make them feel loved and appreciated.”
Wacera noted that their aim was to extend their services beyond the usual customer interactions by engaging in charitable activities and community support that coincided with this year’s theme: Going The Extra Mile.
She called on those who have something to spare to share with the less fortunate in their neighbourhoods.
“We appeal to those who have extra resources to go that extra mile for someone in need in the society,” she said.
