Uasin Gishu County is set to host a major empowerment forum next week aimed at helping young entrepreneurs and successful borrowers turn access to credit into thriving businesses.
On Thursday, County Chief Officer for Trade and Cooperatives Elphas Kesio received a delegation from the Hustler Fund at the county headquarters for a planning and sensitisation meeting.
The discussions focused on preparations for a joint forum organised by the Hustler Fund in partnership with the Tukuza Hub, scheduled for 22 October 2026.
The event will bring together top borrowers and youth from across the county to explore practical ways of growing their businesses, accessing affordable credit and building sustainable livelihoods.
Welcoming the initiative, Kesio said the programme aligns with the county’s goal of unlocking economic opportunities for young people and small-scale traders.
“Empowerment programmes like this are key to unlocking the economic potential of our youth and small-scale entrepreneurs,” he said.
“We must sensitise beneficiaries on responsible borrowing, proper utilisation of loans and timely repayment so that these funds truly grow businesses and improve livelihoods,” he added.
Hustler Fund Chief Executive Officer Mr Henry Tanui described the planned forum as part of broader efforts to deepen public understanding of the Fund’s role in promoting financial inclusion.
“This initiative is part of our efforts to deepen public awareness of the Hustler Fund’s role in providing accessible financing,” Tanui said.
“Empowering borrowers with the right financial knowledge is essential to ensure that credit translates into productive investments, stronger businesses and improved household incomes,” he remarked.
The forum is expected to offer participants practical guidance on using Hustler Fund loans to expand existing enterprises and create lasting economic opportunities in Uasin Gishu.
