IPOA urged to do an impartial and thorough Albert Ojwang’s death

Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has urged the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) to leave no stone unturned in the ongoing Albert Ojwang’s death probe.

Speaking in Cherangany, Natembeya said IPOA should do a probe free from fear, interference or intimidation of any kind to unlock what led to the death of Ojwang.

“The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) must conduct a prompt, thorough and transparent investigation in the tragic murder of Albert Ojwang.

This process must be free from fear, coercion or intimidation. Justice demands that the individual or individuals responsible should be identified and brought to book without delay,” he said.

The call comes as the country’s investigative arms led by IPOA burn midnight oil to unravel what occurred and those who may have been behind the death of Ojwang.

So far, IPOA has revealed that Officer Commanding Central Police Station Samson Talaam, Police Constable (PC) James Mukhwana and one other person are being held in connection with the alleged murder of the blogger and teacher Albert Ojwang.

Mourning the deceased, Natembeya described him as a beloved educator, a passionate social influencer, and a courageous voice whose impact resonated across the country saying that, his death comes as a heavy blow to the nation, family, all who knew him and to the many more who were inspired by his works and words.

“At this profoundly difficult time, we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and the country at large. We share in your grief and stand with you in solidarity,” he added.

Adding that every Kenyan, regardless of status or profession, deserves dignity, truth, and accountability, Natembeya said it is unfortunate for any Kenyan to lose life at the hands of those who are supposed to ensure their safety.

“We demand that justice is served with urgency. Not only must it be done, but it must also be seen to be done. May the soul of Albert Ojwang rest in eternal peace,” he said.
