The Governor noted that the county had earlier released Sh30 million last year, with a further Sh56 million allocated to support about 16,000 students in 68 county polytechnics, with an additional 24 million shillings set to be released before the end of the current financial year.

Barasa said the county has built 29 new Early Childhood Development Centres (ECDE), while finalizing construction of another 32 centres aimed at improving access to early childhood education.

At the same time, the Governor said his government was working closely with the registrar of persons to ensure youth studying in various colleges who have attained the age of 18 years get to register for National Identity card.

“One of the challenges we have realized is that students in various colleges have challenges getting ID cards. We are working with the heads of those institutions and the registrar of persons to ensure they get registered,” he added.
