Learners in Mbita Sub County have been urged to exploit their talents by embracing the arts sports and science career path ways.
Area Deputy County Commissioner Peter Mutiso said learners who were talented in various sporting disciplines were a vital resource for the country’s socioeconomic development.
Addressing learners during a scout’s camp for seven schools drawn from Lambwe division, Mutiso urged local leaders to allocate more resources towards improving sports facilities in the region.
He told the local youth to diversify from the traditional athletics and ballgames to other fields like boxing and martial arts.
The administrator urged parents to ensure no grade ten leaner fails to report to the senior schools.
He cautioned the youth against engaging in drug abuse and other vices stressing that discipline was a sure path to success.
The DCC was accompanied by Dan Moi a former Harambee Stars under 17 Captain and Nick Okoth, a boxing Olympian and Kenya Defense Forces boxing coach.
