Narok South DCC warns residents against possible landslide

Narok South Deputy County Commissioner Flex Kisalu has issued a warning to those residing in landslide-prone areas in Narok South.

While speaking in Narok South, Kisalu said those who reside in areas prone to mudslides should exercise caution and, where possible, move to safer grounds following the alert on prolonged heavy rains.

The DCC listed the areas prone to landslides as Chepalungu, Torokiet, Pambanik, Kitopen, Katama, and Olosokon in Narok South.

“For those who do not have places to go, the government will offer schools for the time being,” added the DCC.

Kisalu said the Steering Committee in charge of Disaster Management in Narok South Sub County met to discuss issues caused by floods in order to look for alternative solutions.

The Meteorological Department has issued a statement to the effect that the heavy rains may continue beyond the traditional rainy season.
