Owino assures government support on Sports facilities

State Department of Industrialization Principal Secretary Dr. Francis Owino has assured Migori youths government support on sports facilities as a key step of nurturing their talents.

Owino regretted that the Migori County had no single modern basketball court, a scenario he described as stagnating talents of Migori youths.

The PS was speaking at Oruba Girls, Uriri after being joined by a number of leaders from Migori County in Commissioning National Government -CDF funded multipurpose hall at the school.

“Our sons and daughters go out and they have these facilities when they go out, when they come back home they are not able to exercise their potential, ” said Owino.

According to him, construction of Basket Ball court is a good initiative that will go along other packages at the youth Empowerment centers.

He also reported that the National government is aware of the potential of Youths in Migori and it is the mandate for both National and County government to ensure that they are provided with technical skills that can enhance future job prospects.

Owino hinted that the government was keen to tap talents of the Kenyan youths in all fields through equipping vocations training institutes, promoting sports and strengthening their Information and Communication skills.

He challenged the youths to identify and develop areas they believe they can do better insisting the government is ready to provide necessary support.

Also present at the event Uriri Constituency MP Mark Nyamita said that the youths have an upper hand in ensuring that they have good skills in all aspects of life both technically and emotionally.

The legislator said that the youths will sharpen their skills at empowerment centres in all aspects of life and also have the mandate to engage in online writing and online jobs.

Nyamita promised to boost ICT skills for his constituents.

He however thanked the Ministry of Industrialization for the continued support they have shown Uriri residents as they were able to receive some funds for their projects.
