Road upgrade work on Maseno-Kombewa road gathers pace

Road upgrading works on the Maseno-Kombewa Road in Vihiga County reached a major milestone on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, as contractors commenced the laying of the road surface in a project expected to transform transport and spur economic growth in the region.

The ongoing works, which include tarmacking and surface dressing, are set to improve mobility, ease the transportation of goods and services, and enhance connectivity between Maseno and Kombewa towns.

Area leaders led by Luanda Member of Parliament Dickson Maungu toured the project site to inspect the progress of the long-awaited road upgrade.

Speaking during the inspection, Maungu said the improved road infrastructure would greatly benefit traders, boda boda operators, farmers, students, and residents who have for years grappled with dusty roads and poor transport conditions.

Heavy machinery was actively deployed at the site as contractors continued with the works, signaling steady progress and renewed hope for local residents.

Residents welcomed the development, expressing optimism that the upgraded road will reduce travel time, lower transport costs, and open up the area to increased business opportunities and investment.

Leaders further assured the public that the project would be completed within the stipulated timeline and called on residents to cooperate with contractors to ensure smooth implementation of the works.
