Turkana Governor Jeremiah Lomorukai sacks Water Services CEC

Turkana Governor Jeremiah Lomorukai has sacked the county executive committee member for water services, Lopeyok Akwalata.

In a letter dated July 28,2026, circulating in social media from today, the county boss said he had taken into account concerns regarding leadership and integrity as stipulated in chapter six of the Constitution.

However, Governor Lomorukai did not cite specific reasons for the dismissal.

In his response, on social media page Akwalata thanked Governor Lomorukai for the honour of entrusting him with the responsibility to serve in his administration.

“I carried out that duty with dedication, commitment and all my heart. I am sincerely grateful for the opportunity and the trust you placed in me. Wishing you God’s guidance and every success in the next chapter of your journey,” he said.

Prior to his dismissal, Akwalata had publicly differed with Governor Lomorukai on Turkana south politics.

Akwalata is eyeing the constituency seat which is also being eyed by county executive committee member for health Dr Joseph Epem who seems to have the governor’s blessings.
