The Kenya Scouts Association – Vihiga County Chapter, led by County Coordinator Ms. Carolyne Afandi, paid a courtesy call to Vihiga Governor Dr. Wilber Khasilwa Ottichilo ahead of their participation in the National Scouts Competitions.
During the meeting held at the Governor’s office, the delegation briefed Dr. Ottichilo—who is also the Scouts’ patron in the county—on the association’s recent achievements and ongoing community service efforts. The scouts have been instrumental in local environmental conservation activities and health awareness campaigns, which complement the county’s development agenda.
Governor Ottichilo commended the scouts for their exemplary performance at the regional level, praising their discipline, leadership, and commitment to community engagement.
He conveyed his best wishes as they prepare to represent Vihiga County at the National Scouts Competitions set to be held from August second to fifth at the Rowallan National Scouts Camp in Nairobi.
The Governor encouraged the team to continue partnering with the county government, especially in promoting environmental sustainability and community health education.
He underscored the vital role of youth-led initiatives in achieving sustainable development goals.
The courtesy call served as a morale booster to the scouts and reaffirmed the county government’s commitment to fostering youth leadership and civic responsibility.
The Vihiga team now sets its sights on the national stage, aiming to showcase both their scouting prowess and the spirit of service that defines the county.
