Woman in the dock for killing her husband

A Narok court has ordered for a social inquiry report to determine whether a woman charged with murdering her husband should be released on bond or not.

Sitting in Narok, High Court Judge Justice Charles Kariuki directed that the report be presented on October 23 and that the accused, Judith Adhiambo, remain in custody till then.

Adhiambo has denied that she hit her husband, John Wainaina, on the head with a blunt object on September 27, 2026, at the Father Ntaiya area, Narok Central Sub-County, following a domestic dispute.

Defence lawyer Jepher Kere had urged the court to grant her favourable bond terms, arguing that she was a mother of young children and had cooperated with investigating officers since her arrest two weeks ago.

Kere further argued that Adhiambo had been in custody for long enough for investigators to be completed, adding the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

However, the prosecution, led by Gitonga Murang’a, opposed her release, citing concerns that she could interfere with witnesses, including a minor.

The prosecution told the court that most of the witnesses were close family members and that the alleged crime scene was the accused person’s home, raising fears that her release could compromise investigations.

It also warned that releasing Adhiambo could heighten tensions between the two families and potentially affect the progress of the case.

The accused had remained in custody following a miscellaneous application filed by the prosecution as investigators pursued the murder inquiry.
