About 1000 students from Makueni County today received soft skills training in preparation for formal employment and internships sponsored by Anita Mbinya Foundation in collaboration with Brighter Monday organization.
Among the beneficiaries include students learning at Wote Technical Training Institute (WTTI) WTTI and others who have completed their studies from various universities and colleges in the country.
The students were empowered with skills that will help them to write attractive curriculum vitae, mastering job etiquette in developing professionalism and other interpersonal skills such as presenting themselves in an interview and other employability credentials.
Addressing the participants at WTTI, the County Executive Committee Member for ICT, Education and Internship, Japheth Mang’oka, urged the youths to remain open-minded especially on the career paths while saying they need to be persistent in seeking knowledge and self-development.
Mang’oka who was the chief guest at the event, also warned the youths seeking employment opportunities to be wary of conmen who take advantage of their situation.
“Take care not to be lured into employment apps that are there to take advantage of your situation. We have people who pose as potential employers, hence ensure you always try to ascertain their credibility before applying,” warned Mang’oka.
He told them to take advantage of the 55 internship positions that have been advertised by his department saying application is online.
All candidates who undertook the training will be awarded a certificate of participation.
Those present included County Executive Committee Member for Devolution, Nicolas Nzioka, among other government officials.
