Government departmental heads in Mukothima Sub-County have resolved to strengthen collaboration between the national and county governments in a bid to enhance service delivery to residents.
Speaking during a joint Heads of Departments (HODs) meeting held at the Deputy County Commissioner’s office in Mukothima, Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) Peter Mutiso said public officers from both levels of government must work together to address challenges facing wananchi and improve service delivery.
The meeting, which brought together representatives from national and county government departments, was aimed at introducing officers to one another and fostering a spirit of teamwork and cooperation.
Mutiso emphasized the need for a cordial working relationship anchored on a one-government approach to ensure efficient and responsive public service.
He noted that despite serving under different government structures, all public officers are united by a common responsibility of addressing the needs of citizens and promoting development within the sub-county.
Mukothima Sub-County Administrator Mr. Fred Kiriri and other officers present welcomed the new DCC and pledged their support in advancing collaborative governance and development initiatives.
The meeting resolved to establish a common WhatsApp group to facilitate real-time communication and information sharing among departments.
Members also agreed to hold monthly joint HOD meetings to review progress on key development and service delivery issues.
Other resolutions included conducting joint public barazas and outreach programmes, particularly in remote and hard-to-reach areas, mobilizing and sharing resources among departments, and convening regular meetings involving both state and non-state stakeholders within the sub-county.
The officers discussed a range of issues affecting residents, including government service delivery, inter-government communication, public participation forums, land matters, environmental conservation, agriculture, civil registration services, Social Health Authority (SHA) registration, gender-based violence, feeder roads and staff welfare.
The meeting also expressed concern over the increasing cases of tuberculosis in the sub-county and called for enhanced public awareness and intervention measures to curb the disease.
Among those who attended the meeting were Sub-County Police Commander Geoffrey Ojuma, Deputy Assistant County Commissioner George Fondo, Assistant County Commissioner Evans Kimani, Sub-County Public Health Officer Daniel Ngoci and Adult Education Officer Joash Murimi, among other government representatives.
